I am very excited to be writing the first blog for The Home Barn. I started to think about my blog on a gorgeous sunny day so the first thing that came to my mind is how to bring that sunshine into your home even when the sun isn’t shining which, lets face it, can happen in this country!! Bright colour is the key to a fresh, sunny, summer look. Accessories are the best way of achieving this as you may not wish, for example, to invest in a red couch or to paint your room green. Affordable accessories give you the scope to change your look with your mood and seasons.
Muted colours such as white, beige and pastals create a lovely relaxing ambiance but you shouldn’t be afraid to add that lovely splash of colour to stamp your own identity on your interiors. There are a number of very simple ways that this can be done.
At The Home Barn, we love oilcloth. It can change the look of your room in a quick and affordable manner, is great for little hands and can be used indoors or out.
Oilcloth is a great, affordable way of adding instant colour to a dark or dull kitchen. The beauty of it is you can change it around too and have one stored for every season.
Well what can we say about cushions? They can be used in any room in the house and can change your look in the blink of an eye. On the bed, on the couch, on a single chair or on kitchen chairs, cushions can infuse colour into any interior.
Don’t be afraid to mix colours, shapes and patterns for that shabby chic look.
COLOUR THE TIME
A clock can make a great talking point and is a wall hanging that can add a great blast of colour to your room.
A muted kitchen is very easy to lift as there are so many possibilities of infusing colour through kitchen accessories and kitchenware
Even nice bright textiles hanging on a hook in your kitchen can be enough to catch the eye
